He is not only excellent and motivated, but also a very nice and wise boy who fits perfectly within our team. What does he think of his internship? We were curious about that!
Andres is in the final year of the MBO software developer course at Koning Willem I College in Den Bosch. He loves computers and loves gaming! But programming is what he really wants to learn and he is fully committed to it.
Andres did not take the shortest route. He worked as a plasterer for 3 years and even has a plasterer's diploma. Yet life as a plasterer did not make him happy. During his last year as a plasterer he came to this realization. He felt like he wasn't where he was supposed to be.
“ Being happy in life is priority number 1 for me. Of course you also have bad days, but that's part of it. Once the feeling of happiness and satisfaction about where you are in life prevails, you really feel good about yourself.”
Thanks to good guidance from the Koning Willem I College, Andres chose to quit the plastering trade and pursue his dream of becoming a programmer. At the moment he is proud of himself and all the choices he has dared to make in a more difficult time.
Andres came into contact with Vrolijk Online via the internship website of his course. The travel distance from his home was a nice bonus, but Andres thought the interesting projects were more important. During the introduction he was quickly convinced (and so were we) and luckily he still is!
“ I have been working here for over a month now and I can hardly describe what a wonderful experience I have had here so far. I am enjoying my internship! Besides of course working in the field and the nice colleagues I have met here, what I like most about Vrolijk Online is the attention paid to your private life. People understand better than anyone that work is important, but also that your private life is what it's all about! You will notice this in the genuine interest that everyone has in you and in the flexibility that the company offers.”
Ambitious as he is, Andres still has doubts about further education at higher professional education level. But above all, he wants to enjoy his work, have nice colleagues and get satisfaction from his work. I thought that would be fine with Vrolijk Online :-). And fortunately that turns out to be the case!
Andres also has a message for young people who may have started working (too) early and are already earning good money. If at any point they have doubts about their future, he recommends taking these doubts seriously. Retraining is not easy, he knows from experience. Still, he is happy that he did it and found happiness in the developer profession.
“In general, I think this internship is very similar to the future perspective that I have in mind. I can learn a lot from my internship supervisor. Jeroen can deal with interns like no other and has the patience and knowledge to really help me further in my career. I have already learned more in the first 4 weeks than during my entire previous internship. The best thing of all is that there is much more knowledge to be gained and I am putting my best foot forward.”
